What is Cloud Computing and how should you consider it?
This event is the second of SwANH’s Quarterly Education Events for 2010.
Learn how your business can take advantage of Cloud Computing to develop new sales opportunities.
Target Audience
This event is targeted to Software Executives, Product and Development managers, who are responsible for product direction and delivery.
Speakers
Franco Potepan – DynamicOps
Franco Potepan is the director of product management at DynamicOps, a company that specializes in the automation and management of large-scale virtualized environments. He worked for IBM as an executive architect in cloud computing client engagements, developing strategic solutions for highly optimized and dynamic IT infrastructures, and for Rational Software, as a Model Driven Development practice lead. He has 20 years of experience in software architecture, focusing on Service Oriented Architecture design, methods and governance, software development lifecycle optimization and agile process adoption, and requirements management. Franco began his career in research, designing controls systems for synchrotrons at Elettra (Italy) and CERN (Switzerland).
Jim O’Neil – Microsoft
Digging for answers and discovering connections are Jim’s obsessions. He’s built his fair share of applications for fun and profit, but attacking new technologies, understanding how they work, and communicating the details back to fellow developers is what gets him going each day. Starting with Microsoft C on a 286 in the late ‘80s, Jim’s career has focused on standalone Microsoft technologies and interoperability with the likes of CORBA and J2EE. He holds an MCPD: Enterprise Application Developer certification and was a certified Sybase instructor. As the co-author of two books on PowerBuilder, Jim has spoken at numerous events in the U.S., Canada and Europe over the past 15 years. If he weren’t digging around in technology, Jim would have been a classical archaeologist. That’s why he takes a week off every July to help run the National Junior Classical League Convention for secondary school students of Latin and Greek.
James Gardner – litl, llc
James Gardner is VicePresident of Marketing at litl, llc. He brings to litl a strong background in online and offline consumer marketing. He started his career as a brand manager with Procter & Gamble and, after graduating with an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, served leading organizations around the world as a marketing consultant with McKinsey & Company. James has helped launch and grow a number of early-stage start-ups and served clients independently as a freelance strategy consultant. More recently, he served in a marketing leadership role with Aquent, a global staffing agency.
The event will be held April 20th from 6-9pm at SERESC, 29 Commerce Drive, Bedford, NH. The event is $10 for current SwANH members (Using discount code "member"), and $25 for non-members. Light food & refreshments will be served.
