I just posted a blog about core competencies of creativity and critical thinking (you can click here to read it). In my experience, when times are tough for any business, it's critical to focus your attention on doing what you do best, the best that you can do it. In order to do that, every seat in your company must be operating at maximum efficiency. I would say that this is much easier said than done, so let's brainstorm a little and see what our group knowledge has to share that will help employers operate more efficiently, and therefore be better positioned when the economy does come back.
