How’s business doing?

That’s the question NHBR’s reporters have asked many business owners across the state in the next issue of NHBR, in print and online Friday, June 18. In several articles focused on the mid-year review, general trends are spotlighted by Bob Sanders, while Cindy Kibbe takes a look at some off-beat economic indicators. And in NHBR’s continuing series of regional roundtables, business leaders from Nashua discuss the Gate City’s economy.

Summer is here, and what better time to explore the bounty of the Granite State's farms, especially when dining out. Cindy Kibbe explores just what it means to have a “local” menu -- and some of the pitfalls restaurant owners face when serving food made in New Hampshire.

"Open wide" refers not only to the mouths of patients of Dr. Gary Lindner, of Lindner Dental Associates in Bedford, but also of the dentist's heart. Cindy Kibbe interviews Dr. Lindner about changes in dental medicine and his practice's 25th anniversary celebration focused on supporting a local nonprofit.

Columnist Bill Ryan of Ryan Career Services explains why building a career is far more than just proving your task-based knowledge. And Paul Boynton, of “Begin with Yes,” shows us that positive actions speak much louder than positive words or intentions when it comes to moving your career forward.

“What’s in a name?” can have serious implications when it comes to a family business. Tom Donovan, of the law firm of McLane, Graf, Raulerson & Middleton, discusses some of the legal issues with family-based trade names.

And don’t forget to mark your calendars for Greenerpalooza, Thursday, Aug. 12 at the Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion in Gilford. The third annual event, co-sponsored by Public Service of New Hampshire and Citizens Bank in coordination with the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development and NHBR, highlights energy efficiency and the latest green products and services, and features a concert spectacular headlined by Grammy Award-winning musician Sheryl Crow. Details in the June 18 issue of NHBR, in print and online at www.nhbr.com.
